What to Expect

With The Hearing Consultancy you are in the safe hands of experienced professionals who will take the time to explain exactly each of the procedural steps and allow you ample opportunity to ask any questions you may have.

A full hearing examination can take between 40 to 60 minutes and is painless and non-invasive, you are strongly encouraged to take along a communication partner with you to your appointment, ideally this should be someone whose voice you are familiar with as part of the evaluation process is a ‘familiar voice test’. This allows your Hearing Audiologist to evaluate your ability to hear speech under a number of conditions and forms part of the final assessment results.

We conduct a comprehensive Case History to ascertain any possible/potential contributory factors to a hearing problem and an important element to this is an up to date list of any prescriptive medicines. If possible we would ask that you print out and complete our Registration Form and bring it with you to your first consultation.

We would also ask that you avoid any exposure to loud noises for at least 24 hours prior to your test and this advice covers activities activities such as mowing a lawn with a power mower (petrol not electric), use of electric drills any musical event like a concert. Exposure to such loud sounds prior to an examination can affect test accuracy.

If you have any questions or would like further information then please feel free to contact one of our associates.
